Our policy on tracking website visits

Transparency regarding Dstny’s use of cookies

The following describes how Dstny A/S uses cookies. Legislation requires transparency for website users, including users of Dstny A/S’ website. The legal basis is the amendment to the ePrivacy Directive, implemented in Danish law through Executive Order no. 1148 of December 9, 2011, on requirements for information and consent for storing or accessing information in end users’ terminal equipment (the Cookie Order), issued pursuant to Sections 9 and 81(2) of Act no. 169 of March 3, 2011, on electronic communications networks and services.

Use of cookies on Dstny’s website

On all pages of Dstny A/S’ website www.dstny.dk, three different types of cookie services are installed. On all pages under my.dstny.dk, one type of cookie service is installed.

Cookies may be set using various technologies, such as Flash, HTML5, and JavaScript.

The first cookie service is provided via Apache, as we host the website ourselves. Apache’s cookie service automatically places a cookie on the devices of visitors to www.dstny.dk (first-party cookies). This generates weblog data for each individual visitor.

Cookies from Apache can be used to track visitors across multiple web services to build a profile of each visitor’s browsing behavior (anonymous marketing tracking).

In addition, Dstny uses cookie services provided by Google Analytics (free) on both www.dstny.dk and my.dstny.dk, and Leadtracker (paid) on www.dstny.dk (third-party cookies). Data collected via Leadtracker can be traced back to June 2012, while data collected via Google Analytics can be traced back to July 17, 2012.

Cookies from Google Analytics and Leadtracker are used to track visitors across multiple web services in order to build profiles of individual browsing behavior (anonymous marketing tracking).

Use of tracking in Dstny’s advertising in physical and external digital media

When Dstny A/S advertises digitally, a URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) is always associated with the advertisement. This means that when a person clicks on a Dstny banner—for example on a media website—and is redirected to Dstny A/S’ website, Dstny receives information about the source (media site) and the specific advertisement that led to the visit.

The same applies when a person scans a QR code in a physical advertisement, such as a newspaper ad or a roll-up banner at an exhibition. Dstny A/S can track aggregated multichannel behavior up to 90 days back using URI tracking and Google Analytics.

Dstny A/S uses behavioral Google Customer Match, IP targeting, targeting, and retargeting in advertising campaigns that rely on the above tracking technologies.

Use of tracking in Dstny’s email newsletters

Dstny A/S uses an email marketing system to regularly send newsletters to customers, prospects, partners, suppliers, and others to inform them about news, offers, and other updates from Dstny A/S.

Dstny A/S obtains verbal, written, or digitally provided consent from recipients before sending newsletters. Future consent is always obtained through dedicated channels where the individual must actively provide consent. This is never done in connection with cookies.

Once a person has given consent and receives a newsletter, tracking is associated with each individual email.

What does Dstny use the collected data for?

Dstny A/S primarily serves the business market and sells almost exclusively to companies. Therefore, we focus on identifying and analyzing data generated from public and private businesses (as legal entities). Data is used for:

  • Analysis of potential business customers’ website behavior in connection with sales activities (primary purpose)
  • Analysis of existing customers’ and partners’ website behavior to retain and develop business relationships
  • Web statistics on the use of our website and email newsletters
  • Analysis of website behavior to optimize user experience
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of advertising across media

Dstny A/S uses, to a very limited extent, weblog data generated from first-party cookies provided by our hosting provider.

Data generated from third-party cookies (Google Analytics and LeadTracker) is used extensively by Dstny A/S.

Data generated from newsletter tracking allows Dstny A/S to see whether a recipient opens a newsletter and which headlines or articles they click on to read more.

Dstny A/S is able to combine data from the four tracking channels mentioned above to gain a more accurate understanding of digital behavior from a given device associated with a business user. Significant resources are dedicated to this analysis.

Storage of cookie-generated personal data

Visits from private individuals are not the focus of Dstny’s business activities, and we therefore do not work with visit data generated from devices that cannot be linked to identifiable companies.

Dstny A/S does not seek to identify private individuals (natural persons). Nor can Dstny A/S identify private individuals through cookies, unless a person has actively subscribed to our email newsletter in a professional context.

Consent regarding the use of cookies

When a person visits our website, this effectively constitutes passive consent to the installation of cookies on the device used (computer, tablet, or smartphone), and to Dstny A/S using the generated data.

Refusal and withdrawal of consent for cookies

Dstny A/S does not offer an active consent mechanism when visiting the website. Therefore, it is not possible to refuse the installation of cookies on your device when visiting Dstny’s website. As a result, it is also not possible to withdraw cookie consent, as no explicit consent is given.

If a visitor does not wish Dstny A/S to track visits over time, they are advised to delete the cookies installed on their device.

Opting out of tracking in email newsletters

Subscribers to our email newsletters can unsubscribe with each newsletter. However, if they do not wish to be tracked in the future, they must also delete cookies.
